SBI PO Selection Procedure 2016 – State Bank of India (SBI) conducts the recruitment for the post of Probationary officers in its offices. The recruitment drive is conducted for the candidates in three stages which are: Preliminary, Main and Personality Test. The Preliminary examination will be conducted in the month of June 2016 following which the successful candidates are called to participate in the Main Examination following up to the Personal Interview. Features of the SBI PO Selection Procedure 2016

  • SBI conducts the probationary officer recruitment in three stages. Following are the stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, Personality Test
  • The examination is conducted in objective type and the candidates will have to select one of the four options given in the questions.

SBI PO Selection Procedure 2016 (Preliminary Examination)

Important highlights for the Exam pattern followed in the preliminary exam are as follows:
  • The Preliminary examination is an objective type examination where the candidates need to select one correct option out of given four options.
  • The total mark of the exam is 100.
  • For every correct response provided, the candidates would be awarded 1 mark and for every wrong response ¼ mark willet deducted. However no mark will be deducted for any response.
  • The test would be conducted online and every response should be marked using the mouse.
  • The total time allotted is 60 minutes.
  • The candidates should note that there are three sections in the Preliminary examination which has sectional cutoffs which the candidates need to clear. The three sections are as follows:

SBI PO Selection Procedure 2016 (Main Examination)

The candidates who score above the SBI PO Preliminary Cutoff Score 2016 will be allowed to take theSBI PO Main Exam 2016 which will follow a completely different exam pattern, the highlights of which has been given below:
  • The Main Examination is also an objective type examination. Some of the questions are also descriptive.
  • The total marks for the exam is 250 marks.
  • The objective questions are divided into four sections of 50 marks each whereas there is a descriptive section which carries 50 marks.
  • The total time allotted for this examination is 120 minutes.
  • For every correct response provided, the candidates would be awarded 1 mark and for every wrong response ¼ marks will get deducted. However no mark will be deducted for any response.

SBI PO Selection Procedure 2016 (Descriptive section pattern)

Along with the objective type question, the Main Exam will have questions in the descriptive format as well. Following are the important points to ponder for the written examination:
  • The Descriptive section will carry 50 marks and would also be an online test.
  • The question will be displayed on the monitor below whom a space would be provided where the candidates will have to type the answer using keyboard.
  • The duration for this test would be 60 minutes. So, the total timing for the MAIN Exam would be 3 hours.
  • This test would judge the writing skills of the candidates where the focus would be on letter writing, comprehension and essay.

SBI PO Selection Procedure 2016 (Group Discussion and personal Interview):

The candidates who clear the cutoff score for the Main Examination would then be called for a group discussion and personal Interview test where the candidates will have to face an Interview board.
The final merit list would be released on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the Main and Interview.
